J.W. Awori Hayanga, MD, MPH, MHL, FACS, FRCS, FCCP, Professor of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery and ECMO Program Director at the Heart and Vascular Institute at the West Virginia University School of Medicine. Dr. Hayanga is Board-certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. He received his MD from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, and his Masters of Public Health from John Hopkins University. In 2020, Dr. Hayanga was appointed as special advisor to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for his expertise in ECMO and public health policy.

Phillip P. Chan, MD, PhD, Chief Executive Officer of CytoSorbents. Prior to CytoSorbents, Dr. Chan led healthcare and life science investments as Partner for the $80M NJTC Venture Fund. Dr. Chan received Board-certification in internal medicine, having completed his residency at Harvard Medical School at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He received his MD/PhD from the Yale University School of Medicine and his BS in cell and molecular biology from Cornell University.
